Assemblies, Town Hall Meetings, and Community Connections
The entire community gathers twice weekly for assemblies and Community Connections. Assemblies are a space in which we showcase student work, take care of school business, and build school spirit. We use Community Connections time to come together, dive deeper into questions and issues facing our community (including diversity, the political landscape, the media, learning differences, ethics, and the honor code), strengthen student voices, cultivate student leadership, and work to improve our community. Periodically, student clubs or the Archer Student Council will organize town hall meetings on a particular topic of interest.
Peer Mentoring Program
The Peer Mentoring Program serves to support the transition of new 9th grade students into the Archer community. At the end of each school year, incoming 9th grade students are matched with returning 9th grade students based on background and shared interests. Mentors meet with their mentee at the beginning of the summer and connect periodically before school begins. Mentors welcome new students to join a variety of social opportunities, serve as a point person for questions, and overall ensure that students feel welcome and included.
