Varsity Volleyball Rolling Towards CIF Playoffs
Senior Night is Wednesday, October 18; CIF Playoffs begin Tuesday, October 31

Ranked fourth in the CIF-SS Division 7 (61 teams) and 16th in the state (254 teams) by MaxPreps, the Archer Varsity Volleyball team has been on another roll this season. This year's team is boasting a 16-3 overall record and is 7-0 in Liberty League play, and with one more win, will wrap up a third straight league title. The girls are looking to improve on last year's team, which went 27-5 overall but lost in the CIF-SS quarterfinals.

On Thursday, September 28, the Varsity Volleyball team made sure to put the “four” in Archer School “four” Girls as they won the championship of the Milken “Dig Pink” tournament for the fourth straight year, impressively winning 10 of 11 sets. Macoy O. '18 and sophomore Amelia N. '20 were selected to the “all-tournament” team, while Locke L. '18 won the tournament MVP, the same award her sister Christian L. '16now a standout at Lafayette College in Easton, PA, won when Archer took the tournament in 2014 and 2015. This past Friday, Archer visited Independence League powerhouse The Buckley School for a non-league showdown. Buckley, 12-2 overall and ranked third in CIF-SS Division 8, was routed by Archer in three sets. The team has elevated its play with the recent addition of sophomore sensation, setter Andrea C. '20, putting together a six-game winning streak since she joined the lineup.

Archer will play a Senior Night game on Wednesday, October 18, at Park Century School in Culver City. The girls will take on league rival Pacifica Christian, first serve for the Varsity team is at 6:00 p.m. and the JV team plays at 5:00 p.m. Archer’s seniors will be recognized prior to the Varsity game. The CIF-SS Division 7 playoffs begin on Tuesday, October 31; playoff brackets will be released on the CIF-SS website on Thursday, October 26.

Archer's volleyball success is by no means limited to the Varsity team. JV Volleyball is sporting an impressive 9-2 overall record and will be making their own run at a tournament championship when they head to Milken School for the JV version of the "Dig Pink" Tournament on Thursday, October 19. In Middle School volleyball, both the A (8th grade and under) and B (7th grade and under) teams are undefeated and in first place in their respective leagues. Overall, the Archer volleyball program is sporting a combined 37-5 record (.881). The Middle School Pacific Basin League playoffs begin on Monday, November 6.

Cross Country Running for Two Titles
Both Varsity and Middle School Teams Threaten to Win League Championships

The Archer Cross Country program continues to ascend and both the Varsity and Middle School teams are looking to capture league championships. Varsity was only two points behind defending league champion Pacifica Christian at the last meet on Wednesday, September 27 at Griffith Park, and is only four points behind for the top spot in the league. Led by Caitlin C. '19, the Varsity team will look to close the gap on Wednesday, October 25 at Balboa Park. The league finals and Senior Day is Wednesday, November 1, at Rancho Park in West Los Angeles. Archer’s Middle School team barely missed winning the Pacific Basin League last year and they are in position to take it all this season. The team won first place on Tuesday, September 19, with their full lineup, and will return that lineup for the final tuneup on Wednesday, October 25, before running in the league finals at Kenneth Hahn Park on Tuesday, November 7.

In the last six years, Archer has won the 20-school Pacific Basin League Championship three times and has been runner-up three times. It appears that the girls are on the path to capture another PBL title, which will take place on Saturday, November 4, at Brentwood School beginning at 9:00 a.m.
