Flexible Tuition

For the 2018-2019 school year, Archer allocated more than $4 million in flexible tuition. The average grant is 83% and Flexible Tuition reached 22% of the student body. We plan to continue this commitment to access, providing families with the ability to enroll who otherwise might not have been able to consider an Archer education.
Archer’s Flexible Tuition Program allows interested families to apply for a “flexed” tuition based on their financial picture. The Program entails an assessment of a family’s ability to pay independent school tuition, determines if a family is eligible, and then reduces the tuition and fees required based on the amount a family can pay. Archer’s need-based program has a limited budget. While the School cannot guarantee flexible tuition, we strive to provide it to the widest possible socio-economic range of students.

In reviewing each application, the Flexible Tuition Committee considers both FAST’s recommendation and any additional financial information the family is asked to provide including: the family’s other children, additional dependents, all sources of income, priority of spending, debts and expenses. The School believes that parents have an obligation to pay the educational expenses of their children. Therefore, all Archer families pay some tuition and every family is expected to have exhausted all financing avenues available to them before flexible tuition is issued. This includes, but is not limited to, second mortgages, retirement funds, savings accounts, funds from extended family members, and bank loans. Our FAQs cover many questions that have to do with policy. Please read through all of them, especially if you are new to the process.
