2017: Tracy Drain

Tracy Drain is a Flight Systems Engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA. She currently serves as the Deputy Chief Engineer for the Juno mission. She received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky and a MS in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. In her 16 years at JPL, she has participated in the development and operation of the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, the Kepler mission and the Juno mission.

From the spring of 2013 through 2015, in parallel with her work on Juno operations Tracy also served as the Supervisor for the Flight System Systems Engineering Group. In that role, she provided guidance and oversight to other engineers who support a variety of JPL missions. Tracy returned to Juno full time at the end of 2015 to see Juno through the preparation and execution of the Jupiter Orbit Insertion on July 4
th, 2016. She is enjoying this exciting time on the mission, as the scientists make new discoveries about our solar system’s largest planet.
