Hannah K. '20 Receives Brentwood Youth Citizen Award
The Brentwood Community Council awarded Hannah K. '20 the Brentwood Youth Citizen Award on Wednesday, December 11, recognizing her service to elementary school students through the Mobile Science Camp she co-founded while in the 10th grade.
The student-led Mobile Science camp organizes projects for underprivileged students to foster in them a love of science. The program has served 600 students so far. Mr. Kub, who advises Mobile Science Camp, said Hannah was the first key lesson planner, promoter, strategic planner, instructor, website developer, and fundraiser. She now delegates many of the responsibilities in curriculum development, outreach, finances, media, and teaching. "Hannah has been instrumental in getting her friends involved in 10th grade, but also including various students from outside her grade since that time," Mr. Kub said.
