Students All Smiles for the Start of Classes

Archer students kicked off the new year with moments of joy, connection, and sisterhood with their classmates. The start of the year was staggered for Middle and Upper School students this year to give each division time to settle into remote learning. Middle School began on Tuesday, August 18, and Upper School began on Monday, August 24.
Interim Middle School Director Nat Damon hosted a virtual Middle School Assembly to welcome students on their first day back. The assembly included remarks from Mr. Damon, Dean of Students Ms. Babin, and Middle School faculty. The Zoom chat was abuzz with excited students saying hello to their Archer sisters and sending green and purple heart emojis to take over the chat screen. In a digital twist on the traditional first day of school pictures, they also shared photos via a Middle School-wide Padlet (archer.org email required).

Upper School began its school year with mentorship group meetings, an assembly, and pictures to commemorate the first day of school. The Upper School Assembly included remarks from Head of School Elizabeth English, Upper School Director Meghan Tally, and Student Body President Francesca C. '21. Francesca advised her peers to let go of their awkward moments this year and to hold on to their connections with their fellow classmates. "For the next however many years of your life, they will be by your side," she said. Similar to the Middle School Padlet (archer.org email required), Upper School students created their own Padlet page (archer.org email required) to introduce themselves and share their email addresses in case anyone needs their help or advice.
