Archer Softball Progresses to CIF-SS Division 7 Quarterfinals

After cruising to an 8-0 win in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 7 playoffs last Thursday, the Varsity Softball team made the 45-mile trip to Acton Park for a “Sweet 16” match up against Vasquez High School's Mustangs.
With the score tied at 3-3 at the top of the fifth inning, Archer loaded the bases to bring up all-time RBI leader and all-CIF junior catcher Morgan D. '19. She scored the first point that led the girls to a 13-3 win. Archer's all-time strikeout and wins leader, all-CIF senior pitcher Kam B. '18, shut the Mustangs out over the last five innings to record the win.

While the home team packed the park with over a hundred fans, Archer had a small but intense contingency there for support. Among the faithful were alumnae Rachel P. '17 and Liadan S. '17, both former softball standouts during their time at Archer. The team is experiencing another strong season, having won the league championship for the fourth straight year and joining the 2012 and 2014 squads with a trip to the CIF quarterfinals.

Archer will match up against The Big Bear High School Bears, a 722-student public high school located in Big Bear City. The Big Bear Bears will travel to Clover Park on Thursday, May 24, to face the #2 seeded Archer for a 3:15 p.m. game. The winner will advance to the CIF-SS Division 7 semifinals on Tuesday, May 29.
