Why did you and your parents choose Archer? When it comes down to it, the choice to attend Archer was all my own. I had toured and shadowed several other schools, but I knew that Archer was the perfect school for me from the moment I stepped on campus. I loved Archer because the idea of an all-girls school sounded so empowering and seeing the girls working together during my shadow day was really inspiring. I have created so many special friendships here and we all support each other through our Archer journey. Every day I feel so lucky.
What new passion or interest did you discover while at Archer? At Archer, I discovered my love for science. In my seventh-grade science class, we did many activities and explored several different topics that made me enjoy the subject even more. Due to my interest in science, I decided to join the Science Fair program in eighth grade, which led me to my first Los Angeles County Science Fair. I won second place in my category, where I presented my project on how blue light affects the eyes and mobility of Drosophila Melanogaster (fruit flies). As a second-place winner, I was able to present my research at the California State Science Fair. Participating in the Science Fair program has taught me valuable problem-solving skills and how to analyze data. I look forward to continuing Science Fair in Upper School and making new discoveries through research.
Which Archer tradition or activity do you look forward to each school year? The tradition I look forward to the most each year is Moving Up Day, which takes place on the last day of school. It's a day where the sixth graders weave the maypole, which was set up by the seniors and their families. It is such a meaningful tradition and the perfect way to end the school year!
