When visiting The Archer School for Girls' Athletics department, one will notice the quote prominently printed on the wall at the top of the stairs: “Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.” This axiom, from legendary UCLA Basketball Coach John Wooden (1910-2010), reminds us of the important lessons learned through sports.
Archer offers the following California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) sanctioned sports for both Middle and Upper School: Cross Country, Volleyball, Tennis, Basketball, Soccer, Softball, Swim, and Track. Equestrian is also offered and sanctioned by the Interscholastic Equestrian League (IEL). Upper School athletic teams belong to the Liberty League while Middle School teams compete in the Pacific Basin League (PBL).
Archer athletic teams are enjoying unprecedented success in both the Upper and Middle school. We attribute this success to a cooperative effort between athletes, coaches, faculty, and parents. Given that 50% of the student body participate in sports, the Athletics department works with Archer athletes to help appropriately balance academics, athletics, and family lives.
The Archer Athletic department has tailored off-season programs that fit well with the demanding lives of our students. Throughout the year, Archer Athletics sponsors camps and clinics that anyone can participate in, including skills development and strength and conditioning training in several different sports.
