Campus Master Plan

Working with the world-renowned engineering team at Buro Happold and the architects at Parallax Associates, Archer has committed to bringing over 30 sustainable design elements to its new campus. The new buildings and renovations are anticipated to be Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold equivalent and feature numerous educational opportunities that will bring sustainability to life for those who use and visit the campus.

Sustainable design features will include
  • the abundant use of natural light and ventilation roofs covered in reflective material to deflect the sun’s heat and reduce demand for air conditioning
  • energy-saving light systems and insulated windows designed to keep buildings cool in the summer and warm in the winter
  • integrated solar power and sustainable and low-emitting materials throughout the building
  • many other features that will become teaching tools for those they surround.

The campus improvement plan is also designed to reduce the use of potable water on campus. Measures will include high-efficiency plumbing fixtures and climate-based irrigation controls, use of recycled water for irrigation, native vegetation for non-sportsfield areas, and bioswales to capture stormwater. Archer’s Council for Sustainability has also looked at a potential Living Machine water filtration system. The proposed construction will build on our commitment to sustainability and start in 2017.
