Director of Advancement

The Archer School for Girls is currently seeking a full-time Director of Advancement. The Director of Advancement works closely with the Head of School, the Board of Trustees, and the Advancement team to provide leadership for the School’s Advancement initiatives in building a strong culture of engagement and philanthropy throughout the School and extended community.
 
The Director of Advancement plays a key role on the Senior Administrative team, and leads and manages the staff in the Advancement Office.
 
The Archer School for Girls is currently in a $30 million capital campaign for an Athletics and Performance Center. The Director of Advancement will provide strategic and logistical leadership and partnership to both the Head of School and Board of Trustees toward this goal.
 
Nature & Scope of Duties:
General
  • Achieve or surpass fundraising goals, including the Archer Fund ($2.75 million) and Capital Campaign ($30 million), and build the base of support, continually adding new prospects to the pipeline.
  • Oversee and develop all aspects of the Advancement program, including: leading annual and capital campaign giving, soliciting foundations, building and sustaining a strong alumni association, managing parent volunteers, and designing parent, community, and fundraising events.
  • Nurture and maintain a highly collaborative relationship with the Head of School, the Associate Head of School for Finance and Operations, the Directors of Communications and Admissions, the Board of Trustees, and Archer Parent Association leadership.
  • Attend and present at Board of Trustees meetings and subcommittees, including: Advancement, Finance, and Committee on Trustees.
  • Strategize and execute ongoing stewardship and solicitation.
  • Stay up to date on current philanthropy trends and emerging opportunities and make strategic recommendations to the Head of School regarding Advancement initiatives.
 
Advancement Office Responsibilities and Outcomes
  • Identify, research, and spearhead the implementation of a diverse and multifaceted fundraising program to support the School’s mission and vision, cultivating a culture of giving and gratitude across all constituencies and socioeconomic strata.
  • Develop fundraising-related materials to expand and enhance the School’s visibility and reputation.
  • Identify foundation funding opportunities and submit grant applications and reports.
  • Strengthen relationships with the School’s alumni and further develop alumni programming.
  • Enhance existing relationships while building new relationships, systems, and programs that further tap into the generosity and resources of the community.
  • Manage the visitor relations process, ensuring all guests are welcomed appropriately and provide briefings to the Head of School and others ahead of their visit as necessary.
  • Maintain a database of all contributors and provide weekly and monthly Advancement reports as required.
  • Manage the Advancement budget.
  • Oversee the School’s volunteerism and parent association group efforts.

Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of experience in fundraising
  • Independent school experience preferred
  • Proven success in annual giving and capital campaigns

Salary range: $210,000 - $275,000 annually (depending on qualifications and experience)
