Girls Research in Science & Engineering

This inquiry-based high school science curriculum guides students through the process of designing and implementing independent scientific research projects to address student-generated questions about real-world problems. The RISE program has successfully provided authentic scientific research experiences to juniors and seniors for the past three years, with on-campus research conducted in areas ranging from molecular biology to chemistry and engineering.

Through our RISE program, students learn to utilize cutting-edge technology in Archer’s research lab alongside experienced research science educators. Our teachers provide personalized support to help girls develop a deep understanding of their topic and skilled laboratory technique in an environment that encourages risk-taking and collaboration. Students also benefit from established partnerships with local universities and research institutions to receive mentoring from professionals in their field of interest. At the end of the year, students write a research paper and present their findings to the community at Archer’s STEM Symposium.
