Peter
Brutschea

Chemistry/Physics Teacher

Mr. Brutschea holds a B.S. in Chemical Biology from Saint Joseph's University and an M.Ed. from Boston College. He has spent the past four years teaching Chemistry, Biology, and Forensics at Dexter Southfield in Massachusetts. Before teaching, he served as an EMT during the pandemic, an experience that showed him the value of communicating effectively and performing in high-pressure environments. Mr. Brutschea is excited to join the Archer community to inspire curiosity, confidence, and a love of science in his students.

Fun Fact: Mr. Brutschea once taught a mini-barbecue course that explored grilling traditions from around the world.


Kevin
Cornwell II

Choir and A Cappella Director

Originally from Michigan, Mr. Cornwell is a conductor, educator, and musician. He holds an M.M. in Choral Conducting from UCLA, and a B.M. in Vocal Music Education from Oakland University (MI). Prior to arriving in California, he served as the interim Co-Choir director at the Detroit School of Arts in Detroit, Michigan. Mr. Cornwell enjoys a multifaceted music career from singing with GRAMMY-nominated choral ensemble Seraphic Fire and Cappella Romana, to touring Canada and the U.S. playing Drums/Keys for Latin artist Tatiana D’ Voce. He looks forward to meeting his students and teaching a wide range of styles in vocal music. 

Fun Fact: Mr. Cornwell has jumped off the stratosphere!

Belinda Eleftheriades

English Teacher

Ms. Eleftheriades has a B.A. and M.A. in English from The College of New Jersey and an M.A. in English Education from Columbia University's Teachers College. While she has experience teaching 7th grade- through college-level classes, she has mainly been a 10th grade teacher for the majority of her 20 years of teaching.  She and her husband, who is also an English educator, have two daughters, and she hopes they will come to Archer one day! Ms. Eleftheriades is really looking forward to meeting Archer students and hearing them engage in heated discussions about literature. 
 
Fun Fact: She has completed over 4000 New York Times crosswords to date. 

Charlotte Goldbaum

Athletics Assistant

Originally from New York, Coach Goldbaum has spent the past six years on the West Coast. She earned a B.A. in Sociology from UCLA, then went on to work as a ski instructor in Park City, Utah, and most recently earned her M.Ed. in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from the University of Washington. Coach Goldbaum is a former Archer tennis coach, and is looking forward to returning to the school that inspired her to pursue a career in education. 

Fun Fact: Coach Goldbaum worked at the U.S. Open Tennis Championships as a ballperson for six summers.



Chris Paulus

Math Teaching Apprentice

Mr. Paulus grew up in the Portland, Oregon area and has studied philosophy, mathematics, and statistics. A strong believer in the value of education, he also finds that some of life’s greatest lessons are discovered along the trails of the Santa Monica Mountains and in the neighborhoods of Los Angeles. He is excited to explore the worlds of mathematics, finance, and statistics with outstanding colleagues and the leaders of the future at Archer.

Fun Fact: He enjoys traveling, trying to learn languages, and being a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles.


Joe Schenck

Arts Department Chair

Mr. Schenck joins Archer as the new Chair of Visual and Performing Arts. He will also be directing the musicals and teaching 7th and 9th grade theatre. Mr. Schenck has taught at Harvard-Westlake School, LACHSA, and many other schools and studios throughout L.A. He has performed with Diavolo Dance Theatre and Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre, where he also served as Educator Director. He is a graduate of Northwestern University and has decades of experience in performing, creating, and teaching the arts. He is most excited to meet his students and begin rehearsing the Upper School musical, "Legally Blonde"! 

Fun Fact: Both of Mr. Schenck’s pinky toes fold over on top of his other toes. 

Cate Scott Campbell

Director of Communications & Strategic Marketing

​​Ms. Campbell is a former student body president of a girls’ school and forever a champion of missions that move girls forward. She began her career as the editorial director of an educational media platform for teen girls in L.A., and has spent the last decade defining, shaping, and amplifying bold voices and visionary brands—from reimagining Disney’s presence in its innovative media lab to raising the visibility of trailblazing women at NASA, the White House, Girls Who Code, and many more. She has a B.S. in Communication from Northwestern University, an M.F.A. from UC San Diego, and is ecstatic to roll up her storytelling sleeves at Archer.

Fun Fact: Ms. Campbell has a small and mighty poodle named Rosie, who really is quite riveting.

Danielle Daskalakis

Fitness & Wellness Long-Term Sub

Coach Daskalakis is originally from Brooklyn, New York and moved out to L.A. to be closer to the beaches and mountains. She enjoys playing sports and still competes professionally in handball. She taught high school PE and health for almost 8 years and has plenty of experience teaching sports to people of all ages—from as young as two years old to as old as 90 years old. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, playing with her dog, Luca, and finding new places to eat amazing food. Archer is a dream for Coach Daskalakis, and she is so excited to meet all of the students, explore the clubs, and the culture.

Fun Fact: Coach Daskalakis threw herself off a boat in Mexico to swim with whale sharks.

Nicole Gardner

Business & Operations Associate

Ms. Gardner was born and raised in Southern California and attended California State University Fullerton, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Finance and a minor in Geography. She spent the past few years running all operations of CSUF’s Outdoor Adventure program. At CSUF, she organized 1-5 day backpacking, camping, climbing, and kayak-camping adventures across several states, and she discovered her passion for working for non-profit organizations, specifically ones that provide new opportunities to women. Ms. Gardner is extremely excited to join Archer as its mission is close to her heart, and she looks forward to working for such a great community and purpose! 

Fun Fact: Ms. Gardner once solo backpacked 240 miles through the Sierra Nevadas from Yosemite to Mount Whitney!

Dulce Ibarra

Ceramics Teacher

Mx. Ibarra is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, designer, and curator born and raised in Southern California. They have five years of experience teaching at the university and college level, and over 15 years of experience in museum and community art education. Mx. Ibarra has also worked as a museum and gallery specialist at spaces such as Crenshaw Dairy Mart, Angels Gate Cultural Center, Craft Contemporary, and more. They received their A.A. at Chaffey College, B.F.A. at California State University Long Beach, and M.F.A. at University of Southern California. Mx. Ibarra loves learning, karaoke, dancing, trash TV, gardening, drinking tea, puzzle games, looking at art, and caring for their three stinky rabbits. They are excited to share their experiences and build community at Archer. 

Fun Fact: Mx. Ibarra was hired to design outfits for MetLife Snoopy plushies.

Lucy Retterer

STEAM Teaching Apprentice

Ms. Retterer is starting their first year at Archer in the Engineering Department after studying mathematics, astronomy, and themed entertainment at the University of Southern California— Fight On! Their favorite things to do in their free time are play D&D, draw, and watch Doctor Who. They are most looking forward to meeting all of the students and showcasing how awesome interdisciplinary learning can be. 

Fun fact: Their favorite video game right now is Animal Crossing!


 

Megan Ulmert

French Teacher

Dr. Ulmert grew up in Louisiana and discovered her love of French at an early age. She studied French and European Studies at Vanderbilt University before completing her M.A. in Paris and Ph.D. at NYU. Dr. Ulmert has taught French at many higher education institutions, including NYU, Sarah Lawrence College, FIT, and Université Sainte-Anne in Nova Scotia, Canada, and is excited to share her passion for language and culture with younger learners. She is especially looking forward to mentoring incoming 6th grade students, as they begin their new chapter at Archer together.
 
Fun Fact: While studying in Aix-en-Provence, Dr. Ulmert worked at the Atelier Cézanne—sometimes even dusting the original objects from Cézanne’s still life paintings!
