Elizabeth English

Head of School

Elizabeth English is the Head of School at The Archer School for Girls in Los Angeles. She has served as an educational leader in both independent and public schools across the country for over 25 years, with a focus on building ethical school culture and excellence in teaching and learning through research.

Elizabeth holds a B.A. in English from Skidmore College. She earned her Master of Arts in Teaching from Tufts University, and her Master of Education in School Leadership from Harvard University.

She began her career as an English teacher at the Emma Willard School in New York, one of the oldest girls’ schools in the country and since then has been a passionate and devoted advocate for girls’ schools everywhere. She writes and speaks about education, parenting and the issues facing girls today. She has been the Head of School at Archer since 2008.

A native of Boston, she lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two daughters, and two golden retrievers.

Karen Pavliscak

Assistant Head of School and Middle School Director

Over her two decades in education, Karen Pavliscak has taught 6th grade through graduate-level classes in Literature, Writing, and Communication.

Described as a "serial innovator," she believes 21st-century teachers are designers of learning rather than planners of content. To support this shift in teacher focus, she has presented extensively on the intersection between design, creative thinking, and empowered communication.

She holds a B.A. in Psychology from University of California, Santa Barbara, and a M.A.T. in English from Loyola Marymount University.

Gretchen Warner

Upper School Director 

Gretchen Warner is the Upper School Director at The Archer School for Girls. During the past 16 years, she has also served as a Dean of Academic Affairs, Dean of Students, STEM Coordinator, Upper School Chemistry Teacher, and Middle School Science Teacher. Throughout her time in education, Gretchen has been devoted to helping students become lifelong learners, problem designers, and problem solvers.

In her previous roles, Gretchen managed the systems and support structures to ensure all students thrive in a 21st-century skills-based curriculum. She also developed and oversaw Archer’s STEM Educator Conference, the Student STEM Symposium, Archer RISE Award & Fellowship, and the Archer XPRIZE Challenge for Middle School students. As Dean of Students, Gretchen developed the partnership between Archer and the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), the School’s Honor Education Council, and the annual Diversity Conference.

She has a B.S. from Virginia Tech and an M.A. from the University of Virginia.

Felicia Paik

Director of Admissions

Felicia Paik joined the Archer community in 2010. A graduate of Stanford University with a degree in communications, Felicia was a journalist for almost 20 years and has written for numerous publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and Forbes.

Felicia is a girls' school graduate, having attended The Westlake School for Girls and her alma mater, Castilleja School.

Felicia's son, Ryan, is in 12th grade at Harvard-Westlake and her daughter, Sabrina, is in 9th grade at Archer. Along with her husband and two children, Felicia lives in her hometown of Santa Monica.

Sara Billings

Director of Advancement

Sara Billings has an extensive background in major gifts and capital campaign fundraising with an emphasis on donor cultivation and stewardship.

Most recently the Director of Development at Westside School in Seattle, the bulk of her work experience was with CCS Fund Raising - a firm focused on strategy and implementation in all areas of development.

A graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Campbell Hall High School, Sara is excited to be back in Los Angeles serving Archer’s mission and its supporters.

Quyen Ngo

Director of Communications and Strategic Marketing

Quyen Ngo comes to Archer with over a decade of strategy, marketing, and design experience for Fortune 500 companies, small business, nonprofits, and startups. A servant leader, her integrated, foundational approach is reflected in her award-winning work and, more importantly, thriving groups.

She most recently was the Senior Strategist at LAUP, a non-profit providing affordable, quality preschool to children across Los Angeles County.

Quyen received her B.A. in Economics, Specialization in Computing and Minor in English from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Jane Davis

Chief Financial Officer

Jane Davis began her career as a CPA in public accounting. Subsequently, she worked in various financial leadership roles in technology, advertising, real estate and entertainment. Jane served as CFO for Skid Row Development Corporation, a homeless services organization, for nine years before joining Archer in 2010 as Controller. 

Jane grew up on the East Coast and graduated from Bryant University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting. She holds a CPA license from the California Board of Accountancy. Over the past two decades, Jane has served on several nonprofit boards.

Janet Lyon

Director of Operations

Janet Lyon joined the Archer community 17 years ago, during its founding years in Pacific Palisades. Her many years of administrative experience have been instrumental to the School’s systems, compliance, and operations.

A native of the U.K., Janet lived primarily in the south of England with her family and then moved to Scotland and the north of England. With the spirit of adventure, independence, and the American dream, she came to the U.S. and has made Santa Monica home.

Janet is a graduate of the Gemological Institute of America. As the proud mom of an Archer graduate, the Archer mission is close to her heart.
