Girls Empowering Girls and The Pad Project Club Spread Awareness of Period Poverty for International Day of the Girl

On Tuesday, October 11, Archer’s Girls Empowering Girls (GEG) club hosted their annual International Day of the Girl festivities in the Courtyard. GEG members hosted booths for students to make friendship bracelets, take photos supporting this year’s International Day of the Girl theme, and learn more about current issues facing women and girls.
This year, GEG teamed up with Archer’s new Pad Project club to collect menstrual hygiene products and host a bake sale. Thank you to Archer alumna Kelsey Branstetter ’06 who got involved and donated cupcakes from her baking company, Sugar Kane’s Bake Shop, for the sale. The proceeds of the donation drive and bake sale are going towards The Alexandria House, a transitional women's and children's home for people moving from emergency shelter to economic stability and permanent housing. Alexandria House helps women become financially stable and enter into safer living conditions. Watch our video to learn more.
